First Look: Ora Igbinedion & Umar Mantu’s Wedding – #Umora2016 Orobasa Igbinidion and Umar Mantu started their wedding celebrations a week ago in the bride’s home state of Edo and continued this weekend with the Kamu, Durbar and wedding dinner in ICC, Abuja. The couple have been friends for many years – he’s the son of former deputy Senate President Ibrahim Mantu, while she’s daughter of Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion , so a lot of royalty and political elite have graced the wedding. The Durbar – a 300-horse procession where the groom and his men rode from Asokoro to Maitama, the bride’s family home. The bride joined the groom side-by-side, both on camels. For their wedding dinner, she wore a Ralph & Russo dress, while her maids of honour Nenesi Ibru and Tania Omotayo were at her side. Customs Re-Introduces Importation of Rice Through Land Borders Hameed Ali, Comptroller-General Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) The Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) , has, Wednesday, ordered the immediate lifting of the ban on rice importation from import restriction list and the re-introduction of import duty payment at land borders vanguard reports. This was made known by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeniyi in Abuja. According to Adeniyi, the ban was only applicable to land borders prior to now. The statement added that henceforth, all rice imports through land border s by rice traders would attract the prevailing import duty of 10% with 60% levy. Adeniyi added that rice millers (preferential levy) with valid quota allocation would also attract duty rate of 10% with 20% levy on rice importation. “Over the years importation has been restricted to the seaports because border authorities have found it difficult to effectively...

The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on Friday, explained how the case of forgery against them, was dropped by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, maintaining that it was a “politically-induced distraction”. They explained that the case came at a time, when all hands must be on deck to solve the problem of economic recession biting the people, destroying homes, and creating severe social disorientation in communities. Saraki, Ekweremadu, a former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa, and a former Deputy Clerk, Ben Efeturi, were all discharged, following the withdrawal of the criminal charge against them by the Federal Government.
