ASUU begins indefinite strike

Image
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite nationwide industrial action.     The National President of the union, Dr. Biodun Ogunyemi, announced this on Monday at a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of ASUU in Abuja. He said during the strike, there shall be no teaching, no examination and no attendance of statutory meetings of any kind in any of the union’s branches across the country. Dr. Ogunyemi declared a ‘total, comprehensive and indefinite’ nationwide strike after a nationwide consultation with members at an emergency NEC meeting held on Saturday, August 12, 2017. He explained in a statement issued after Saturday’s meeting that their decision followed the failure of the government to fully implement the 2009 FGN-ASUU Agreement and the 2013 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The ASUU president added that related demands made by the union were yet to be addressed, which was why they resolved to embark on a

The Church Satan Built

Image
Following the tragic killing of defenseless worshipers in an Anambra church recently, Nigerian writer, Tony Iwuoha, has given his candid opinion on the incident.      The perilous times are indeed with us. Death stalks man, even in the most unlikely places, the citadel of worship, because our worship is abomination unto God, no thanks to the hardness of the hearts of men. We have shunned the persistent nudging of our inner being, the open wound that only righteousness can heal,  seeking instead to bribe the Almighty with our fat offerings and the massive cathedrals we build for Him. But God laughs us all to scorn as we moon around in our hollow edifice and inane rituals.   God needs our heart for fellowship and daily speaks through our conscience; that incorruptible policeman of all activities of men. It is a dictator to whom all men are subject. There is no man too strong to evade the awesome power  conscience wields. It never keeps silence and speaks to both

Behind The Scene: Captain America Civil War Parts Shot in 'Lagos' (Photos)

Image
Captain America: Civil War series which has been shot on locations in Germany, Puerto Rico, and Iceland has created an artificial scene to depict Lagos, Nigeria.    Leaked photos show Captain America in his costume being surrounded by people in what looks like an Obalende or an Ojuelegba parts of Lagos, complete with the yellow danfo buses and the heavy foot traffic.   However, all of that was shot in Atlanta with special effects and African-American actors.   One wonders if the depiction of Lagos, Nigeria will be the stereotypical Hollywood story of suffering or it will be the true tale of hustle and flow.   Meanwhile, here are on some set photos. It is not clear which ones will make the cut yet.   See more photos:

Help! My Ex-Husband Left Me for a Younger Woman But Still Does This Secret Thing with Me

Image
A woman has shared her sad experience with relationship expert, Deidre after revealing a dirty secret with her ex-husband.        My husband left me for someone else six years ago and I now feel like “the other woman” because we are still meeting for great s*x. He left me for an employee he was having an affair with. We had been together for ten years and have three little boys. My husband is 45 and I’m 35. He runs a dry-cleaning business and I am a stay-at-home mum. I thought things were fine. We had no money worries and still had a loving relationship with a normal s*x life. Business was good, so my husband took on a new employee. She’s 30 and he told me she’d been left with a mountain of debts when her husband left her. My husband is really soft-hearted and he took pity on her, letting her move into the flat above one of his shops. He started coming home later, saying she needed training, but how hard can it be to take a customer’s name
