TODAY’S QUESTION: IS MKO ABIOLA TRULY A NATIONAL HERO? DROP YOUR FACTS HERE

For a very long time, many Nigerians have clamoured for June 12th to be declared as Democracy Day in honour of late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola Abiola. However, that has come to an end as President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday made the declaration that the new date for the annual national celebration become June 12 no longer May 29.
Buhari in his statement said “June 12, 1993 was the day when Nigerians in millions expressed their democratic will in what was undisputedly the freest, fairest and most peaceful election since our Independence. The fact that the then military government did not uphold the outcome of that election does not distract from the democratic credentials of that process.”

Many Nigerians have hailed the decision  but do you think MKO Abiola is truly a national hero? Let’s learn history here

Moshood AbiolaAugust 1937 – 7 July 1998) was a Nigerian Yoruba businessman, publisher, politician and aristocrat of the YorubaEgba clan. MKO Abiola ran for the presidency in 1993, for which the election results were annulled by the preceding military president Ibrahim Babangida because of allegations that they were corrupt and unfair.[5] He was awarded the GCFR posthumously on 6th June, 2018 by President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria's democracy day was changed to June 12.
