Nigerian movie star, Jim Iyke, has delved into the transport business as he launches 'Mr Taxi', a taxi service company. Jim Iyke (middle) with friends advertising "Mr Taxi" James Ikechukwu Esomugha, popularly known as Jim Iyke, is set to explore another line of business. This time, it is transportation, as he is set to launch a taxi service simply called “Mr Taxi” The launch takes place on October 5. Sharing the news on his Instagram, the actor revealed that the company will provide chauffeur services in the South Eastern states of Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi. He added that the company intends to extend their services to the South-South. An official launch will take place in Awka, Anambra State, and will be attended by comedian Basketmouth and singer, Timaya. Reacting to the backlash online, the church spokesman and Osteen’s father-in-law Donald Iloff issued a statement saying, ‘we have never closed our doors. We will continue to be a distribution center for those in need. We are prepared to shelter people once the cities and county shelters reach capacity. ASUU begins indefinite strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite nationwide industrial action. The National President of the union, Dr. Biodun Ogunyemi, announced this on Monday at a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of ASUU in Abuja. He said during the strike, there shall be no teaching, no examination and no attendance of statutory meetings of any kind in any of the union’s branches across the country. Dr. Ogunyemi declared a ‘total, comprehensive and indefinite’ nationwide strike after a nationwide consultation with members at an emergency NEC meeting held on Saturday, August 12, 2017. He explained in a statement issued after Saturday’s meeting that their decision followed the failure of the government to fully implement the 2009 FGN-ASUU Agreement and the 2013 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The Federal Government is reportedly set to decide on the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. According to The Punch, there are strong indications that the Federal Executive Council will, at its meeting on Wednesday (today) decide on the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, who gave this indication in an interview with journalists on Tuesday, said the university lecturers had deliberated on the offers made to them by the government at a meeting on August 17. Also, the union, in a statement on Tuesday, said it would call off its strike after receiving a positive response to its demands from the Federal Government. The lecturers boycotted a meeting which was scheduled to hold between the government and the union on Tuesday.
